ADULT BALLET
The exercises combine
stretching with strengthening and aim to improve body tone giving
participants greater flexibility, cardiovascular stamina and better posture.
In particular, it makes people think about how they use their bodies.
Strength and flexibility is gained through the use of natural resistance
with specific gains in the muscle tone of legs, hips and abdominals.
Individuals benefit from
a ballet class for many reasons, including the calming effect of classical
music, to attain greater flexibility, for enhanced grace and posture - but
they discover much more. The challenging combination of stretching and
strengthening exercises keeps them coming back, and as they discover the
rewards of their efforts in their improved body tone, they experience the
satisfaction of learning to execute basic ballet technique with the
appearance of ease.
Many health clubs and
gyms now offer classes in ballet. The exercises combine stretching with
strengthening and aim to improve body tone giving participants greater
flexibility, cardiovascular stamina and better posture. In particular,
ballet technique makes people think about how they use their bodies. It is
challenging but its fun.
There is no dress code
for the adult classes but each student needs ballet shoes and form fitting
clothing so the teacher can check for line and placement of the body. Hair
should be up and off the face.
